Start every building project with the City
Before the first truck shows up, a building project in San Angelo should start with one question: what does the City need from us? Permits protect the owner. They put a second set of eyes on the work, and they keep a project from stalling when an inspector, insurer or buyer asks later.
As a commercial roofing contractor working in San Angelo, Mammoth Services checks permit requirements for each job with the City before work begins.

How commercial and residential applications work
Per the City's Building Permits and Inspections page:
- Commercial: complete the commercial application and submit it to Development Services by email. You receive a project number by email, upload plans for electronic review, and pay fees when the plans are approved.
- Residential: complete the residential building permit application and email it with drawings to the Permits Department. Fees are due when the permit is issued.
The City also keeps a list of registered contractors. Ask your contractor how they handle registration and permits for your job.
Does a roof job need a permit in San Angelo?
The City's permit page does not spell out roof work, so the honest answer is: call and ask for your specific building and scope. Repairs, re-roofing, recovering over an existing roof and structural changes like new curbs or deck repairs can be treated differently. A good contractor makes that call before the job, not after.
